The Aloha State

Since our departure from San Diego, we have sailed over 4000 nautical miles to Japan. That’s a whopping 16 days in the middle of the Pacific. On January 16, 2018, we crossed the International Dateline and completely lost a day. I never lived January 16th. And a boy on our ship didn’t get a birthday this year! We’ve endured 27 feet of sea swells, which means there’s been a lot of rocking and puking in class. If you didn’t know, our world has so much water; it covers ¾ of the earth! And. It. Never. Ends. I’ve seen nothing but ocean for the past eleven days… let that sink in.

Thankfully, half way through our voyage, we took a quick pit stop in my favorite state, Hawaii! The Aloha state, aloha meaning; love, peace, compassion, and used to say hello, is filled with open hearts and beautiful beaches. Something about this island gives you a sense of serenity and for a moment it feels like it will last forever. As we only had a day to be filled with the Aloha spirit, we explored Waikiki, talked with the locals, and cruised on a catamaran sail and snorkel. This was a GOOD day. Dolphins swam along side us and jumped for joy as they led us to watch the whales slowly but surely make there way up to say hello.

Hawaii, you are always a pleasure.

Enjoy the Catamaran video!

Cat
